Postpartum Doula Services

Kindness. Care. Support.

The term doula stems from the Greek word meaning servant.

An overhead black and white photo shows a woman holding a crying baby on her lap. The woman’s face is hidden, and she is seated on the floor with a blanket covering her legs. The baby appears distressed, with eyes closed and mouth open, while the woman supports the baby with her arms.

When first-time or even seasoned parents give birth to a new precious life (or multiple little lives), a postpartum doula can be present, serving and caring for the family, from the first day the new parents and baby arrive home from the hospital up to the first six months after childbirth.

A postpartum doula will care for the new mother and child - in the home - in many of the same ways that nurses cared for the two after the birth in the hospital, plus more! Essentially, the doula will serve the new mother, baby, and family in every way possible, bolstering the family to flourish.

Some examples of what a Postpartum Doula may do include:

  • Mothering the new parents

  • Teaching breast or bottle-feeding

  • Teaching infant care

  • Meal-prep or making meals

  • Support mother’s mental health to help prevent or reduce postpartum depression

  • Doing infant laundry/Cleaning the kitchen

  • Helping parents with bonding

  • Running errands

  • Running interference with guests

  • Explaining what is typical or atypical for both baby and parents to experience during this time
